After work today, I once again battled the snow on our driveway. I love snow, but let me tell you I am sick of it! Another 6-8 inches in the last 15-20 hours with more to come. We just surpassed the most snow ever in the Cincinnati area in the month of February! In fact, the snowfall we received this month is within 2 inches (at this moment) of surpassing our average annual snowfall!
This one really whipped me. I feel very tired and weak. I hinted to Heather this might be the end of the road for me and I told everyone at the table that I loved them. Livvi blurts out "What a drama king!" Lovely!
After dinner, Heather asked who wanted chocolate pudding for dessert. Everyone but I said they did! Livvi said, "you're not having pudding, Dad?!" I said I wasn't. She said, "but it helps prevent heart disease!"
Gotta get me some of that pudding!

My Wife Enters the Blogosphere
Despite urging on my part to have Heather add to our family blog, she has resisted. She is a wonderful writer and has a lot of great things to mention. Well, about a month ago, she started her own blog and I just realized, though I e-mailed some folks, I never posted it on our family's blog. Her theme is a neat idea and I hope you check it out and follow it regularly! As good of a writer as she is, she is an equally good cook! YUM! http://mamayum.blogspot.com

Joie the Jungler (Juggler)
With a handful of pencils, Joie announces she is learning how to jungle (her words), and tosses the pencils in the air.
Chip Off the Ol' Block
Livvi took a math assessment test last week that took a few hours and was broken up into four sessions. She got her score today and got a 2495 (104 points higher than when she took it at the beginning of the year. Here is what that score means:
She is "advanced" for 3rd grade
She is upper "on target" for 4th grade
She is mid "on target" for 5th grade
She is lower "on target" for 6th grade
"On target" means the student's score is where it needs to be on average for the grade listed. Apparently part of the reason the test took so long was because every time a student gets an answer correct, they add more difficult questions to the test, so as to better evaluate how they are developing. The score shows she is working hard and learning a lot. She is in the 95th percentile amongst grade-level peers. Though she is in 3rd grade, she just started 4th grade curriculum last week in math and language arts). Looks like Livvi is taking after her ol' dad (and mom, and grandmother, etc.). Congratulations, Livvi! Keep up the good work!

Nose to the Gem Stone
On Monday, Joie started complaining shortly after noon about her nose. She said there was a toy in her nose. I thought she was full of beans. I looked and didn't see anything and said it was probably just a booger (sorry). Heather asked what kind of toy because she couldn't imagine what toy could fit in her nose, other than a Barbie accessory. Jo's only response was "tiny". After Heather asked what color the toy was, she said "pink". Heather tried to get her to blow her nose, but no toy appeared. She even got out the ground pepper to try to make her sneeze, but she didn't sneeze.
Joie would continue to mention it, rubbing her nose, and making faces, but didn't otherwise seem to be bothered by it. So a couple hours later, after looking in her nose several times, Heather finally thought she might see something shiny way up in her nose. We decided to call the doctor to try to get in so he could look at it. On the way to the doctor, Jo started crying as she didn't want to see the doctor. However, in the office, she was perfectly quiet and cooperative. Long story short, Jo was right! She stuck a craft gem up her nose. When the doctor pulled it out, it was at least 1/4" across. Here's hoping she learned her lesson!

Conversation Overheard in the Van
This is a conversation Heather and I overheard today while running some errands. I believe Joie was counting at the time:
L: Joie, I've counted to 400 before.
J: Why?
'nuff said.

Things You Never Thought You'd Do As A Parent
The following was posted by Heather on Facebook yesterday:
"How many people, other than parents, have had to apply a Hello Kitty bandaid to a pool noodle because its eye was hurting?"
